Redeemer Orthodox Presbyterian church belongs to the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC) denomination. This is a conservative, "reformed" denomination believing in the sovereignty of God in all things. The basic tenets of the reformed faith are found in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Shorter and Larger Catechisms. The OPC has been in existence since 1936 and has congregations throughout the USA and Canada.
Redeemer Presbyterian Church became a particular congregation of the OPC in August 1973. Rev. Elmer M. Dortzbach was the first pastor. Pastor Tom Champness is the second pastor and took up his ministry in February, 1974. In May 1972 ground was broken for the construction of the present sanctuary. Work was completed in October, 1973.
Throughout the years Redeemer Church has been characterized by faithful,
expository preaching from the Word of God; a strong Sunday School and Christian
education program for all ages; a dynamic youth ministry; an active and
varied music and choir program; warm and active concern for members and
visitors; emphasis on building and sustaining strong Christian families;
reaching out to international students; supporting reformed Foreign Missions
and neighborhood evangelism.
